Today we tell you the key improvements that brings the new version Venus OS 3.60 for GX devices, an update that improves the installer experience, expands compatibility with external equipment and enhances the control of the system in sectors such as marine, camper and residential.

New switch panel: direct and efficient access

The new user interface now includes a switch panel accessible from a button on the top left. This tool allows quick control of key loads and systems on vehicles, vessels or fixed installations, either from the GX device's touch screen or from the VRM portal.
It supports Energy Solutions' SmartSwitch DC4 for the time being, and is expected to be expanded to more digital switching devices in future releases. This is a key benefit for any PV distributor working with customizable systems.

Advanced features for marine environments

Venus OS 3.60 incorporates an important update for embedded systems:

  • Night mode with red overlay, ideal for improving visibility in low light.
  • Better display on high definition MFD screens like the Garmin 9000 .
  • A new page specifically for electric boats that displays speed, RPM, engine consumption, and battery charge status.
  • Customizable tank gauges , now individually selectable, making them especially useful for campers or boats with multiple tanks.

Backup and restore VE.Bus configurations

One of the most practical features for the installer is the new VE.Bus backup and restore tool, which allows automatic recovery of a multi-unit system after a device failure.
In addition, this feature makes it easy to switch between preset configurations in applications that require frequent adjustments. These types of technical enhancements represent a breakthrough for any PV distributor managing critical installations.

Expanded battery support and thermal management

This version adds compatibility with Sunwoda and Soluna batteries, already officially validated for automatic DVCC configuration.

Heating and cooling control for Victron NG batteries is also introduced, allowing the activation of relays to manage battery temperature in extreme weather conditions.
It is important to note that this feature requires Lynx Smart BMS NG and is not compatible with Small BMS NG or VE.Bus BMS NG. It can also work with other managed batteries, as long as they send cell temperature data to the GX. This enhancement strengthens the technical offering that a PV distributor can provide in extreme temperature environments.

Improved support for PV inverters via Sunspec™

Venus OS 3.60 extends support for solar inverters managed using the Sunspec™ 123 or 704 standard, enabling:

  • Zero Feed-In
  • Dynamic ESS Power Control

This includes inverters from brands such as SMA, SolarEdge, Kostal or Enphase, and users are encouraged to try other compatible models. For the PV distributor, this represents greater flexibility in integrating technologies from different manufacturers.

Redesigned menu and modification diagnostics

The settings menu has been reorganized to make it easier to navigate the new high-resolution interface, with clearer categories and a breadcrumb system that helps you stay focused.

In addition, a new "Modification Checks" page is added that shows at a glance if the system has been altered (e.g. if an SSH key has been added or the boot configuration has been changed). From there you can disable modifications, reinstall firmware or update online directly. This kind of control and traceability is an added value for any professional PV distributor.

Node-RED and new integration options with GX IO-Extender 150

Integration with Node-RED takes a major step forward with the ability to create virtual devices such as batteries, PV inverters, sensors, tanks, or GPS, importing data from external sources (MQTT, Modbus-TCP) and treating them as if they were native to Victron.
The option to control an MPPT relay from Node-RED has also been added, reducing CPU usage and optimizing performance.

Along with this, the new GX IO-Extender 150 is launched, which expands connectivity with:

  • 2 bistable relays
  • 1 solid state relay
  • 8 digital I/Os
  • 4 adjustable PWM outputs

All connected via USB to the GX device, opening up new possibilities for automation and customization. These capabilities are especially attractive to any PV distributor working with customized solutions.

  • Fixes in Cerbo GX MK2 and GX LTE for VE.Can and IPv6 ports.
  • Support for controlling a second VE.Bus via MK3 from the DVCC menu.
  • Option to configure Orion XS as a standard DC-DC converter.
  • Dynamic ESS no longer limits production when the minimum SOC is 100%.
  • Multi RS now better supports use with generators and without batteries.
  • A GX device can be added to VRM without the portal ID using a new button.
  • Improved generator control : can be automatically stopped depending on the tank level.
  • ESS now supports higher power: expanded import/export limit of 32 kW.
